Getting to Know You, Getting to Know All About You!

I’ve been sort of feeling like I didn’t do a very good job introducing myself in my last round of blogging, and it has been (cough) a year or so since, so I suppose some things have changed, for better or worse. First of all, I feel it’s standard procedure to preface this introduction with a disclaimer: I’m always so bad at writing these things. Isn’t it strange that we live in a world where people have written so many internet bios that they know they’re so bad at them? Anyhow, I am, and I’ve said it, so now we can get on with the thing. I’ll break it down easy-like, for those who don’t feel like reading a giant, solid block of text about my mundane life thus far. Unfathomable, I know, but I’m just trying to appeal to the masses.

Cast of Characters:
Adam: Dear sweet boyfriend of almost four years, now. I still find myself surprised that I’ve managed to find someone I can still like after four years of nearly constant contact, but I won’t dwell on it. Wouldn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say. Suffice it to say that Adam is pretty much the greatest person out there, and I snagged him. HA!

Andy: Roommate who doesn’t suck, miraculously. After hearing many a roommate horror story, and having several of my own to add to the pot, I consider Adam and myself very lucky to have happened into co-habitation with someone whose greatest shortcoming is underdeveloped dishwashing skills. Andy is an awesome dude, and very good at keeping a person up way past their bedtime with engaging conversation.

Daddy and Mama: My parents are adorable, wonderful people. I love them more than anything, and without them, I would clearly not be the person I am today. We’ve had our ups and downs, as all parents and daughters do, but at the risk of sounding even more like a huge sap, I know they’re always there for me, and I hope they feel the same about me.

Jake (AKA Twin Brother the First): Music nerd, going to school for audio production. We have very similar taste in bands, so he’s always fun to talk to. We’re actually going to the same school right now, so I get to see him all the time, yay.

Myles (AKA Twin Brother the Second): Myles and I are so alike, it’s vaguely frightening. We share the same phobias, the same social hang-ups, even the same insatiable need for peanut butter (just kidding, that’s just him.) He goes to school at McGill in Montreal, and I miss him terribly.

Various Friends and Acquaintances:
Owen
Eva
Kareem
Jamie
Ben
Bard
JD
Cassie
Andy McKenna
Jenna

What I’m Doing With Myself:
School:
I’m almost finished with an AA in business (one more class, w00t!). Not really sure what I was thinking there, but I would imagine it was something like, “What the hell am I going to do with my life? Hmm, no idea–business it is!” In any case, this semester I started taking art classes, and when I finish my (second) AA, I’m looking to transfer to Smith College for a BA in graphic design. This won’t be for a while, however, due to:

Work: I work full-time at a call center for a private research firm, which is a euphemistic way of saying I work for a company that makes uninvited phone calls to people to try to coerce them into taking telephone surveys. And no, we’re not governed by the Do Not Call Registry, muahahahahahahaha.

Leisure: I ride a moped most places, which necessitates the wearing of many layers of wool. When I’m not too lazy, I ride my bike as well. Adam and I are very into movies, and not quite so much into socialization, which admittedly doesn’t make for a very dynamic self-description, but at least I’m honest. In addition to knitting, I also sew, spin, crochet, dye, bake, and most recently, draw. I feel it’s necessary to mention that autumn is my favorite season, which is obviously reflected in my creative work. My color choices gravitate toward oranges, browns, greens, and golds; and I frequently become fixated on cables of all sorts.
